In Financial Inclusion, Payments

January 26, 2017 – Today Financial Innovation Now praised the work of the Fed’s Faster Payments Task Force, in particular its benefits to the financially underserved. The Task Force today released the first part of its report on faster payments.

The following statement is attributed to Brian Peters, Executive Director of Financial Innovation Now:

“FIN is encouraged by the ongoing work of the Fed Faster Payments Task Force. Faster payments are critical to ensuring that consumers can access their money on time, better manage their financial lives, and avoid high-cost alternatives. The Task Force rightly recognizes this benefit to financial inclusion in the United States. Policymakers should build on the Fed’s work and ensure the availability of a real-time, affordable payment system for all Americans by 2020.”
